New Deck in 6 Days — We Used It All Summer
My husband and I had been talking about a deck since the day we bought our house. Two years of planning, two years of looking at Houzz, two years of getting quotes that came back too expensive or from contractors who never showed up to do the work.
We posted our project on NeedReno and within 24 hours had three detailed quotes. The range was $22,000 to $31,000 for essentially the same scope — a 400 sq ft composite deck with glass railing and two sets of stairs.
We chose DeckMasters Alberta and the experience was completely different from what we'd had before. They showed up on day one with a full crew and all materials already on site. By day three the framing was done and the decking boards were going down.
We had a finished deck with all inspections passed by day six. Six days. We used it for barbecues the following weekend.
The quality is exceptional — the composite decking is Trex Transcend in a warm cedar colour, and the low-profile glass panels make our backyard feel three times bigger. We've easily had twenty people over and the deck doesn't flex or creak.
I don't know why we waited two years. The hardest part was submitting the project on NeedReno.
